Naturopathy
A holistic approach to your health and wellbeing
Naturopathy is a traditional system of natural healthcare that considers the whole person. It recognises the connection between our physical health, lifestyle, emotional wellbeing and environment.
My approach is guided by the traditional principles of naturopathy. I aim to understand the factors that may influence your health and help you make informed choices about your wellbeing.
The six principles of naturopathy
The foundations of naturopathy are often traced back to the teachings of Hippocrates. These principles continue to guide naturopathic practice today.
- The healing power of nature: Supporting the body’s natural processes.
- Identify and treat the cause: Exploring factors that may contribute to health concerns.
- First, do no harm: Taking a considered approach to individual needs and safety.
- Treat the whole person: Considering lifestyle, physical health and emotional wellbeing.
- The naturopath as teacher: Sharing knowledge to help you make informed health decisions.
- Prevention: Encouraging habits that support long-term health and wellbeing.
Your naturopathic consultation
The initial consultation
Your first consultation takes approximately 75 minutes. During this time, I take a detailed health history to understand your individual needs and concerns.
We discuss your current symptoms, family history, diet, lifestyle, environment and any medications or supplements you take. I may also use traditional assessment methods, such as observing the tongue and nails, where appropriate.
Together, we explore the factors that may be influencing your health. Where relevant, I may recommend further investigations, such as blood tests, hormone testing or Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA). Any testing is discussed with you before proceeding.
I then develop an individualised plan based on your health goals and circumstances.
Follow-up consultations
Follow-up appointments usually take around 30 – 45 minutes. Your first follow-up is generally scheduled two to four weeks after your initial consultation, depending on your needs and whether further testing is required.
These appointments allow us to review your progress and discuss any changes to your plan. We can also address questions and adjust your strategies as needed.
Personalised naturopathic care
Diet and lifestyle are important parts of my naturopathic approach. I focus on practical, achievable changes that fit your individual needs and daily life.
Where appropriate, I may incorporate herbal medicine and nutritional supplements into your personalised plan. I select quality practitioner-only products when they are suitable for your circumstances.
Education is also an important part of my work. I want you to understand the reasons behind my recommendations and feel confident taking an active role in your health.
